Kayaköy Yukarı Kilise
Churches are at the forefront of the structures that offer visuality to the visitors in the settlement. Upper Church, whose original name was “Taksiyarhis”, was founded on a dominant hill near the middle of the settlement. Surrounded by high walls, the atrium is covered with a geometric patterned mosaic floor made of black and white pebbles. The church, which was generally built using crushed and smoothed stones and lime mortar, is covered with a thick pink plaster on the outside.
AFKULE
You can reach Ölüdeniz from an alleyway that comes out of the old village. For this, 5 km through the pines. You have to walk as far. In the west direction (in the direction of Gemiler Bay) 3 km. A little further on, a small cave 400 meters above sea level is visible. Here are the remains of the Hagios Eleftherios Monastery, known as Afkule. It is assumed that the monk named Eleftherios built this monastery because he preferred a way of life away from everyone. In ancient times, monasteries were preferred to be built in such high and secluded places in order not to disturb anyone and to be protected from dangers.
